I LOVE COLOR

I have always loved color but a little bit conservative when wearing an outfit. But since I got into blogging and viewed other fashion bloggers boldness with mixing patterns and colors I am more confident wearing bright colors together.

Like todays outfit yellow, red, green and black, that definitely would not have been me some time back. But now am all for any color combinations.

BELL BOTTOM

This trouser reminds me of the 1960s if I can recall from Dad's photos when bell bottom was the thing. It is an oversized trouser and as it is I've already folded the hemming 10cm. It's bagginess makes it vintage.

The rains are again here and a scarf is definitely an add on especially when it rains at night with cold mornings and sunshine later in the day. The red shawl worn as scarf and belt adds more color to an otherwise nutral outfit.

MY MOM

Meet the best Mom in the whole world. Well she is the only one I have and know and therefore voting her the best draws no comparison. An amazing  woman that I must say did, does and continues to do a great job at raising and caring for her family.

The days outfit was to take care of the weather that keeps changing, cold, warm, hot. Really, it's difficult to tell how the weather will be. I added the shawl just in case it became unbearably cold.

MY DAD

Before my brother Martin moved back home, it is my Dad who used to take my blog photos. Now he does it once in a while. He knows that I have a blog and he asked to be featured in it.

Besides being my Dad, he is also a great friend of mine. Never dull moments with him around. And with his great wisdom, it's always great chatting with him. A great story teller he is too. Having lived from the 1950's to now he always has amazing recounts of his youth.
He started off in life as a school teacher and retired as an education officer and an established business man. Age is finally catching up with him but he still runs his bookshop business with the energy of a 30 year old.

KISUMU

I have been going to Kisumu at least once a week this month. The place is usually humid because of the presence of the lake. That means being sweaty. I therefore always go for something sleeveless or light knitted materials.

The blouse am wearing today will have to go at the end of this year as I make my yearly donations. I am not very comfortable with the length. It keeps climbing up.

WEEKEND

The last time I had this skirt (here) I mentioned that I will repurpose it by making it knee length. Well, I did that and I am happy with the result. This outfit was hastily put together. What I usually do is that I prepare the night before what I will wear the following day.

That was not the case last evening and I woke up also late this morning. I think I scored well with the pairings and Dad also added his voice by saying how smart I look. A plus if you ask me. Enjoy the weekend folks.

A lot of shades of green today. Always trying many pairings with various clothes to get the most from my outfits. A dash of red to add more color to the outfit.

UPCYCLE (2)

I have had this skirt for a long time. Since high school to be specific. It used to be a Sunday best. When I bumped into it after ages, I noted that it had some holes probably eaten by cockroaches in the basket. I decided to chop off the eaten part and use an elastic on the waist to make it wearable again.

I must say I am impressed by the end result. Maybe a few more years then it is ready for the donation bag. The sun is out today and a chance to warm the legs, a break from stockings.

UPCYLE

Hallo!I raided Mom's closet the previous weekend and I got this gem of a skirt. It is a midi skirt but I rolled the waist inwards severally to make it knee length. The stockings and tights will be around for a while considering the cold and wet weather we are currently experiencing.

The blouse am wearing today is upcycled from a full dress. It is a soft comfy viscose material. Being flowered gives me a myriad of pairing options. It will definitely be around for a long time.

BLUSH

I have always been sensitive wearing fitting denim. Like what am putting on today. I am quite slim and I have been feeling that I appear almost thin when I have tight fitting denim. However, that is slowly changing. This is the second pair I have and I have to say all that I thought was just in my mind. I quite like how I look in the blush denim jeans.

The color of the denim is a perfect match to the blush flowers on my blouse, pure coincidence. I have had these boots for sometime now and every time I wear them I am convinced that they are the perfect fit for me. And the brown handbag? A pure leather bag I bought way back when I was in college and it was crazy cheap and so is the jacket.

BELTED

The rains are coming down heavily and I am not complaining. Just missing the sunshine, a bit. Yesterday I traveled to Kisumu. I have been looking for a red belt and after being done with what took me there which was training on tax, I decided to walk around town and visit thrift stalls. I could not leave this belt, just the right size I wanted. It was a little expensive though compared to the other purchases I have made before. Still on the look out for the heels and statement necklaces. Like this outfit would have been better with a chunky necklace. Enjoy your weekend lovelies!
